Several years ago I built the AMT 1/350 Klingon Bird of Prey. But it was more than a straight build.
I used there DLM wing hinge kit, which is sadly out of production, added light and even scratch build a more accurate engine assembly.

Sadly the internal lighting failed and it sat on the shelf unlit and untouched for sometime.
Recently I decided to rectify the lighting issues and that meant a complete tear down of the model. Anyone who builds models knows opening it back up after final assembly is generally a no no. They have a tendency to break rather than come apart along seam lines.
Knowing there was a chance it could get trashed during the process I dug in. I replaced a bunch of wiring, and only had to add one new LED for new fiber optics. Once it was back together I had to do some minor filling/sanding/painting and I gave it another weathering pass.
Not only to enhance there look but it's also good for hiding some spots you just can reach with sand paper.
