I love a 1-3-1 for the rec teams I play on. Very easy to teach to people who haven't played a lot of organized ball. Even if you don't do it "right" you end up creating good spacing and action that can usually score against a rec level defense. Two variations or attacks I like to do in it. If you're going against a 3-2 I like to modify it to a 1-1-3 instead. Drop the wing 3s to the corner 3s. It immediately creates a 1 on 1 mismatch in the low post or a 1 on 1 mismatch for the ball handler. I've even had times were the low post defenders both flash to the corner and the guy down low is wide open. If your high post sets a screen for the 1 on 1 ball handler the 4 or 5 spot in the zone will have to come up to help which will leave your lost post guy open. If the other low zone defender comes over to help you have wide open 3s. A 3-2 against a 1-3-1 or 1-1-3 is the worst defense you can chose. The high post would often have an easy 12' jump shot or floater too. The other variation is for rec level teams passing around the outside of the 3 is usually death for movement. not enough players know how to make that cross court cut and the ball handlers don't know how to wait for them or make the entry pass. Most rec level players it's easier for them to dribble drive and kick or dump off instead. So I like to start a 1-3-1 with either a high post screen if in man or a high post entry pass in a 2-3 if the guy can make it/catch it. If not then just an attack with the high post player as the decoy or to have him roll off to the weak side or back fill the top if he can shoot 3s. That drive usually opens up a wing shooter or your low post guy.

Do you have a breakdown of Baylor 1-3-1 offense.

0:53 I am assuming, that if player 2 is a first preferred receiver to initiate this offence of the 1-3-1. Would have to move out from that (wing) spot if the defender tries to close in and body-up on player 2. Either outward to right diagonally, to have space for player 2 receive ball safely. Or can you imagine player 2 coming closer to player 1 to receive pass in order avoid interception. If defender overplays on D. Can you also imagine player 2 deceptively make quick change of direction around right of defender to cut to basket? Or to his right. Away from defender in order to receive pass but stay in the wing position?

In saying that. What I am getting at is. Play would then be broken off order continuation right? The player would make adjustments when an opportunity to score appears as result. Of course. Or is it advisable play need continued in the order its done.
