If it's safe and reliable it's worth it. If you are new to the sport and don't have $10k - $15k there is nothing wrong with cheap stuff, just make sure you have a knowledgeable person inspect it thoroughly. At the end of the day safety is the most important thing but once you're up in the air it doesn't matter if you have a fancy expensive model or an older inexpensive model. Congratulations and safe flying !!!!
I got one for $200, including 2 harnesses, wing, helmet, radio and 4 qts of 2 stroke oil. Middle aged woman in a Cadillac SUV, not sure if it was a concerned mom, wife, or pissed off ex, she just wanted it gone :-)

Whaaaaaaaaaaaa 1st comment. Getting into PPG on the cheap, fun and still safe. All thanks to Mark Huneycutt. Thanks for the help, thanks for all the free advice and tips / tricks and of course the fun filled friend adventures. You're the man Mark!

Yep, been there. I wish I knew more when I first started.
Sounds like a berserk sewing machine but hey, the price & small fixes make it worth it. LOL Thumbs up for Todd on the sunrise launch & getting into PPG for minimal coin. I bought new equipment because I wanted my first 100 hours to be all about flying and not fixing. Always good to have options for getting into the air. Thanks for your service! Hopefully you'll be home soon.
That photographer is telling all of his buddies that he sold his book to some Americans for $1250 plus some “stuff” that he had laying around. 😂 Either way, you both come out winners. Always nice to have a friend to fly with. 🪂🪂

That paramotor has really cool history. Thanks.
You make a good point, Mark. Lorran gives good advice on the sport. I just recently started flying with a guy locally and naturally thought a paramotor is a paramotor is a paramotor. Wrong! We got out to the LZ and got low on fuel. Naturally, I thought they were all the same, like weedeaters, and outboard motors, etc. Each manufacturers oil mixing requirements are different. I think on our P.APs it is 67:1? I contacted Lorran and he set me straight. Great video!
Sounds like it’s some kinda electric/gas hybrid motor. Strange sounding motor.
He can change the engine and weight shift swing arms
The reason for the twist bit (when on the throttle) is because the two hang points are close to the center. If you put them out further apart, you'd have less twisting.
Looks like The way general tire fix things They are a master on zip ties

Great.
Bitchin, nice sunrise shots ty. Awesomeness,
Wow! The design of the frame is really close to the PAP I fly.

Why does that motor sound like it has a whistle to it ?
Funny ive got a ros 125 but doing a full engine build from to top bottom aww if you ever need a piston for it look for a VERTEX piston from an aprilia futura tuareg 125 they fit perfectly 👌🏻👌🏻
How long does it fly
That is super cheap especially for a complete motor!! With high hang points you loose a bit of stability too.
Having just the history of the paramotor he bought is awesome.

Ever heard of anyone dying in a car crash? Is that going to make you stop driving? Don't be naive.
Somehow I don’t want to equate cheap with anything that can result in my injury or death. I wouldn’t want the cheapest cancer drug, or heart surgeon, certainly not the cheapest brain surgeon! I don’t think, especially a new person to Paramotor flier no one should go with cheap! Just wanted to say this and I tend to be cheap on certain things but I usually correct friends and family when they call me cheap I say frugal!🙏🇺🇸

A lot of things are expensive are MADE cheap so in sense it doesn't really matter. Jordans cost like $2.50 to make. Yet they sell for $200.
@frankpuncekar5051

I respectfully disagree it doesn’t matter how much your running shoes cost when your running it’s usually not fatal if the shoes fail somehow-unless you run in front of a bus or truck- it’s not the failure of the shoes but the safety prevention of the operator. If I’m new at flying a paramotor and up at several hundred feet I don’t want if the motor quits working my last thoughts is “ damn I should not of bought this cheap piece of junk” Stay safe and god bless!🙏🇺🇸

@Mark Huneycutt, I know there was a wing that Shannon Michaels inspected for you, because you made a video. She tested one of the risers and it broke. I thought Alayna commented that that wing would only be used for ground handling in the future.
@MarkHuneycutt
4 жыл бұрын
That was my Sirocco. Riser didn't break
So $1250 for the motor, and that was a second-hand one, meaning it's not a certainty you'll be able to find anything similar. Then you still have to buy a wing, and this all assumes you can already fly it. The training course alone costs something like $3500, and in many countries (including mine), that certification is legally required. So you're not gonna fly for less than like $7000, thus I vehemently disagree with the "flying can be cheap" statement.
@MarkHuneycutt
4 жыл бұрын
A disagreement with "Flying IS cheap" would make more sense. I said "Flying can be cheap". Emphasis on CAN. Nobody said it IS. Todd received paragliding instruction for free through his friend before I met him. His free flight setup was an Advance Epsilon 6, harness, and reserve for only $800! He ended up selling it all for $800. Then I met him and taught him how to paramotor for free. So if he had kept his old wing paired with this paramotor then he'd be at 2050 + free training or maybe less if he sold his PG harness. I have also bought a wing for $800 so it's doable. If you want to get in cheap then you need to have patience when it comes to finding gear and making friends. It can be done. Even the ratings can be free if your friend is an instructor.
@Vousie
4 жыл бұрын
@@MarkHuneycutt So "paragliding can only be cheap if you happen to have friends who'll give you tuition for free and good gear for far less than market prices" would be more accurate... Almost no-one here has that. For example, say I wanted to get into this. I know no-one who does paragliding, where do I find this friend who is an instructor?
@MarkHuneycutt
4 жыл бұрын
I like it but "Flying can be cheap" is much shorter and is a summary of what you said :) The title is still accurate. Since you know no one, I'd start by searching for local fly ins. Go meet people, watch people fly, talk about flying, and immerse yourself. You'll probably meet instructors, people willing to sell gear, etc. I hate that it's expensive because flying is such a joy however I don't think people shouldn't pursue it based off the stereotypical price tag.
