Fun fact: there is actually another way to stop zombies from despawning, and thats if their holding something. Zombies will hold certain blocks and tools sometimes and will use them, the same way foxes can

its true, I made a large army of zombie villagers in the end on some server I like via a spawner, a friend of mine broke the spawner for me and normal zombies were spawning naturally for some reason, another friend of mine spawned more zombies via eggs and I supplied the zombie army with various different weapons and armor, the army got successful enough that it managed to kill one of my enemies as I was chasing him around in the end, in the end though the zombie army eventually got thinned out enough that it wasnt much of a threat
