1/12 Scale Wall Panelling - TURN SUBTITLES ON | Tudor Doll’s House Makeover Diary - Part 11

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Please note, none of the items that I make in my videos are toys: they are not for children. All of my miniatures have small parts and are made with a variety of tools and materials. They are also not edible. Please do not follow my videos as tutorials - they are made as diary entries to show you the progression of my doll’s house makeover.
Please turn the subtitles on for this video.
In this video, I continue the restoration of my second hand dollhouse, adding wall panelling to the banqueting hall and bedroom. During the video, I talk about what materials I used and how I worked out the angles and measurements. For my wall panelling, rather than using wood, I sourced an unusual material that was perfect for this panelling; I bought it from Scrapstore, which is a charity that works with young people and community groups, creating artwork out of recycled materials. If you’d like to see if there’s a Scrapstore near you, here’s a link to the list of locations:
www.reusefuluk.org
I’m not being paid to advertise Scrapstore, but I think that the fact that they recycle materials and turn them into crafts, whilst working alongside young people and community groups, is fantastic! I always like to try to re-use things in my miniature makes rather than buying new items.
If you’re new to my channel, I’m currently in the process of transforming a preloved dollhouse into a Miniature Tudor Hall. If you’d like to see how the dolls’ house has changed and been restored prior to this video, please check out the other parts in my Tudor dollhouse restoration diary:

Just looked up scrap stores near me and there isn’t any unfortunately which is a shame, although my husband might be relieved! 😂. What a brilliant idea to use that rubber. It is looking so good. Great tutorial as well foe anyone who might want to do similar.

We need Scrapstores here! What a fantastic place. Look at all that stuff that would otherwise end up in a landfill. I love how this turned out! I wonder if the roll of stuff you got is some kind of weather stripping.

It’s a super place, isn’t it! People have suggested it might be gap sealing tape of draught excluder. I think it might be some sort of sealing material used by manufacturers inside a bigger product, perhaps in windows or doors or something like that!

I am not sure where you’re located, but in Durham, North Carolina, there is a similar scrap store. It is called the scrap exchange. It is a treasure trove of all kinds of things. You just never know what you’re gonna find.

Thank you so much for this series it has been amazing to watch. I've been given a tudor style dollshouse and had no idea what to do with it now thanks to you I have so many ideas. I've never had a dollshouse before so its big learning curve.

@thelittlemouseshouse Hi. The windows came out amazing on my dollshouse. I couldn't get the same stuff you did, so I had to draw the diamond patten on to acetate. It came out really well. I'm now using your technique on the floor. I found a brilliant ink stain that works really well with mini floorboards. It shows the grain but colours in one coat. Thank you again. I checked out my nearest scrap store, but they want £30 upfront for membership. Is that the same as yours?

@@anubisblueNK Thanks so much for getting back in touch with an update! Your windows sound fantastic. The stain for the floorboards sounds great! What’s it called? Awh.. no, my Scrapstore doesn’t charge for a membership (or at least it didn’t when I last went!). Do you then have to pay each time you visit?

@thelittlemouseshouse The ink is called Dr Phil Martin's Bombay van dyke brown India Ink. Lol, what a mouthful. It's from an independent art supply shop in my nearby town, but I'm sure it would be available online. The scrap store membership, I think, was a yearly charge and was only open on certain days of the year. Since starting this project, I've been collecting all sorts of odds and ends of packaging. I've made quite a few mistakes, but it's good fun learning what works and then having another idea.
