    that alarm is every where in Iowa it goes off at 7:00 am 12:00 and 6:00 and it was for the framers out in the fields like in the 1900s so they know when to come home to eat it happens at almost every small framer town here and they keep doing it i don't know why

    ours goes off at 9 pm. that and the streetlights are when we had to be home as kids. We don't live in tornado country, its a legacy to call the volunteer fire department to a fire. Not sure why they still have it since we are way past the pager era. Ours sounds exactly like the one in the video. yes I live in the same small community that I grew up in but it's part of a major metropolitan area. not out in the Hicks.

    It doesn't go off everyday. They only test the tornado sirens 1 time every few months. Plus you can kinda look at the sky an tell there was no tornadoes to be had

    Casey, that siren was a tornado warning siren. In the Midwest, the siren is tested once a month from around May to September. In my county, the siren is tested on the first Wednesday of every month. :)

    My mother and I took this exact road trip by in 2012. It was absolutely amazing and an experience I will never forget.
