095 MOLE RAT VS HP VELOTECHNIK GRASSHOPPER VS STREET MACHINE VS SPEED MACHINE

On this chilly winters morning i sat at home looking out of the window at the trees swaying gently in winters frosty grip. And pondered as to what i should do,i then had an urge to ride a two wheeled recumbent as it has been a while since i enjoyed their quirky delights.
I dragged Questie out of the shed and headed over to my mate Stuarts shop in Holborn. And this is what transpired. / james-blake-retrograde...

In Germany folding bikes with max 26 inc wheels count as hand luggage in train und undergrounds, so you don't have to buy a ticket for your grasshopper. :D

Thanks John ! My 3rd year with bents ! Wow !!! I have the HP Speedmachine with the optional Aero Bars, These are a must for me because I feel I have a "Grip" on the bike giving "feedback" and control with a LARGE "cockpit", I can stand straight-up in front of the seat when I stop because I am not cramped , wide bars also make the bike more stable when pushing and parking. The Aero bars are so good for putting down the power too because you can pull while pushing hard on the peddles (78kph! downhill].. I also have similar bars on my Catbike Musashi and an M5 Lowracer. A Velo is in the future ! Awesome videos ! from Ont. Canada, we have some Beauty trails and roads here and a few Bent riders... Not many velo people but my friend Bob has a few !

On my last overseas trip I saw a pair of bikes like the Street Machine sitting outside an apartment building on the south side of Nara, Japan. I wished I had something like that on my trip. Walking everywhere was exhausting.

Great review.... my first 2 wheel recumbent was a Musashi, and it was a nightmare to learn on, but it is a great bike. My buddy got the Grasshopper and I was amazed how easy that was to ride, the perfect learner recumbent bike. That molerat looks interesting, makes my M5 low racer look normal ;)

You know John, I've watched this video like 4 times now. I didn't really stop to think about why it was so appealing to me, but after thinking it over I thought I'd share it with you. First off the music selection is great, and the editing is well done. I think what really sets this video apart for me is that you have someone (Stewart) filming you so that we not only hear what you are saying but also can see the bike in question in action. It is so hard to see Velo and recumbents actually being used from a 3rd party perspective. It is usually always first person or some variant of that. For me it really helps. I get to see the bike in motion, and how it mechanically functions, etc. I see what it looks like when a person is riding it, etc. Anyway just wanted to share that and thank you again for a great video!

ICE use to make a foldable recumbent I wanted but they quit making it. Ugh. Any idea where I could source parts for a Tour Easy? They are out of business now. Hard to believe. Thanks for your videos. LOL just kiddin' i am cycling an old "Alligt Modern" recumbent for goeing to work every day. 28km to work and 28km back to home. so i thought, i am allowed to make a comment lol. i did make it a pedelic at one point though. but because i am mostly over exeeding the 25km/h limit (just) it kicks in not that much. but it's very handy in town and climbing bridges. the pedelic set comes from "Yose power". ow! and i subbed ofcource.

Need more mirrors. Can't see behind without. I like the street machine. I own a bacchetta corsa 700c and can appreciate the low wheel of the street machine. Plus the seat looks comfy for riding around. The problem with these bikes are the maneuvering in town and sitting too low for cars to see you. Even my bacchetta high racer sits too low for my comfort in town around cars.

Hey John, is there a slight Chance you could get Stewart to take a photo of the demounted rear axle of the moule racer? With the cassette taken of ... It's just i've now searched for more than two years for a photograph of how the internals work and i couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. In neither french, spanisch, german, british or american recumbent forums is there any trace of it ... And i would be really keen to understand how the different parts interact as it is so innovative ... That said and pleeded for. "Number one speedmachine!" It must be destiny, i tested the speedmachine for the first time on friday, first time ever. After one night sleep and pillow consultation I just had to buy it. One day later you post the australian version of the speedmachine vid, and just today this ... The timing could not be better. Not in the slightest. It's like falling in love, without all the hassle and drama :D So thank you a lot for your lovely two wheeler urge. And if yuo get the street machine and come through anything near Frankfurt in Germany I would love to join for a ride ... Maybe to HP headquarters or anywere with cake ...

Under seat starring is a NO,NO the Grasshoppers U bend handlebars I would feel a constant knocking against my legs To me all 4 have some fault of some sort. ( my personal opinion & chioce) Definitely I wouldn't have the Grasshopper ( not a fan of that shade of green ) Maybe there has to be more designs about old & new at reasonable prices about let's see them on KZread.

if you crash them frontally the street machine will allow for other kinds of injuries besides from crushed balls. The mole rat will also wash your balls and your hair if it rains, will get a good bit of dirt in your face and on your drink just in case you want to flush your mouth. Its a great name for it. Every time I watch your videos I'm amazed how shitty the roads are there. It's painful seeing (and hearing) those new bikes riding over those holes. I suspect a 2 wheeler can have much deeper suspension than the ones shown (and need it there)
