She joined forces with Kanye West, amassed a streak of killer features (among which an incredible hook on Pusha-T's 'Santeria'!), toured with the 1975 and debuted with her first full-length last January. Modus Vivendi features both dreamy autotunehiphop and hazy synthpop, guitarstrings and 808's. The music is siren-like, captivating, beautiful! But the lyrics are her morning pages, brain dump. She's always stressing on the points that she is 'free' and going with the flow; makes me suspicious. It's like she's trying hard to convince herself that she is those things. A few listens to her entire album and there's despair, pain and regret. I don't get the feeling she is processing any of her emotions, not even through her work! She just seems to be putting it out there, unprocessed. Hmm. Some of her music reminds me of Porcupine Tree.
