@ArcanePath360 Welcome, glad to help! Yes you have to make sure the piston head is aligned with the + shape on the top, if you didn't then the pad will not moving right.. u know? Use the car wash soap, it's safe. I got some brushes to clean in small spot where you cant reach with your hands. I washed brake caliper with dish soap, just a bit with warm water and use old toothbrush. I was lazy to go to store to get brake cleaner, spray on the caliper, make sure won't touch the other bike parts

Thanks for all your hard work on these videos, Mitch. I've been maintaining my 2007 Burgman 400 on my own for years thanks to your informative videos. I only have 15K miles on mine, but I love it as much today as the day I bought it. Keep up the great work.

Thanks! This helped me a lot. I've always been scared to take my brakes apart, but my front one has just seized up on me and I'm not paying a mechanic if I don't have to. 2 questions: 1: horizontal? Do you mean the way the cross on the head is aligned? 2: I was taught that washing up liquid=bad. And as my bike is so filthy after a rough winter could I use something like solvent or wheel cleaner? Thanks a lot, stylishy made tutorial.

  • @MicBergsma

@ArcanePath360 I think I did that before on a different bike.. take the pads out and clean around the pistons then put pads back.. should be safe, you could spray the brake cleaner but careful not spray on other things.. cover other things with towel . don't touch the brake lever while doing that

Just bought a 400 Burgman 2012 and needs rear brakes. So glad I found your video. Rotor is kinda jacked up as well. Also I noticed when I was driving it home that I could only get to 80 mph before hitting redline. I don't think that is normal. What do you think?

I have a Burgman AN 400 1999, and theres no screw to depress pistons, however theres a screw on the other side thats used for Handbrake setting, I unscrewed it easy step by step, and depressed pistons inside. What do mean is that correct what I did? I also took some brake liquid out before doing this. Thanks mate

Hi Mitch, old but great video. I have an issue with my front brakes, on the right side , I can’t remove the calliper, the pads are slightly rubbing on the disc and the wheel spins OK, but it seems something stuck and the calliper can not be lifted off the disc rotor, do you have any advice? Thank you so much for your assistance.

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me. I have a Burgman 400, '09, and there is 5800 miles on it, in excellent condition, only I've noticed of late that there is alot of rough shaking when I first start off, and it smooths out once I give it throttle, and I've even noticed that it lets up after I've been riding it along time, or it's hot, it seems to be alleviated. Is that rubber belt on it's way out? Is that the problem? What do you think?

I think I am having an issue with rear brakes. Changed rotor and pads about 2000 miles ago and pads are already worn out and the rotor is rough likely due to pads being worn out. Is that normal? Now I am trying to remove caliper but it's like the pads are grabbing on. Any suggestions? 2012 400 Burgman. Thanks!

God damn it! I've just broken another brand new ratchet socket wrench trying to get the brakes off. How in the hell do they come off? I sprayed loads of WD40 round them but the nuts just won't budge. I guess I'm gonna have to pay £100 for the mechanic to do it at this rate. The wind and rain isn't helping either. Oh well :(
