Video from day two of major flooding in northeastern Vermont as remnants from Hurricane Beryl dumped over 5 inches of rain in some parts of Vermont. The Passumpsic River flooded its banks to an extent higher than the 2023 floods, crippling the town. US 5, VT 122, and many side streets were flooded with feet of water. Lyndonville Fire, Vermont Urban Search & Rescue, Vermont State Fire Marshalls, the Vermont National Guard, Vermont Fish & Wildlife, and the Lebanon and Hanover NH Fire Departments were stationed in town for numerous water rescues, including a missing driver.

🙏🏼💟 Oh my gawd what a shame to see 👀 😢 I pray they find the missing driver. Such a tragedy to hear and see all of the homes under water and all the damage.

You mean the man who disregarded and ignored being told to turn around? His body was recovered.

Ive lived in the Burke/Lyndon/St. J area most of my life and this is some of the worst flooding ever here, and how strange and coincidental that its exactly one year after the major VT flooding of July '23 (which hit the central part of the state even harder than the NorthEast Kingdom). There have been steady thunder & hail storms over the past few days and even reports of tornadoes forming in some places. Many cars and other property swept away, even parked cars flipping over washed out banks and falling into sink holes on the roads and collapsed bridges in the area, Ive seen pics & vids of all this posted to social media by locals, and heard from friends and family firsthand who saw it. This is the leading edge of hurricane Beryl coming up thru, so there might be even more over the next week. Hopefully the rain holds off now long enough for it to drain into the rivers and we can assess the damage so we can prepare for whatever storms might come next. Some towns were still in the recovery process from last year, in fact, in some places theres still clear signs of damage and reconstruction from the previous big storm & flood to hit VT, hurricane Irene back in 2011. I think people are getting the idea now that this might become an unfortunate new trend.

Technically it’s Lyndonville now, not Lyndon.

It never was Lyndonville. Lyndon has always been the town, Lyndonville was (keyword was) the incorporated village in the center of town that was disincorporated last year.

Lyndonville is a village within the town of Lyndon, many of these are outside the bounds of the village

@newenglandemergencyresponse I've been over there and never seen any signage for that. Here in NH, Groveton is within the town of Northumberland, but you see both names on different signs.
