VOSOT/Package from Sargent Beach, Texas.
I interviewed a woman named Lisa Parker.
She rode out the storm in her home on the beachfront. There was approximately 8-10 feet of storm surge where her house is located.
The home is built on an area of elevation and is also built on pilings that are designed to withstand storm surge, which is why she was able to safely survive. However, 4-5 feet of storm surge with large ocean waves did occur under her home.
She described it as very scary and tiring. She showed us how the waves were hitting the back of her house. She also made remarks about how she probably won’t ride out another storm in the future.
She showed us houses around the neighborhood that sustained serious damage. She will be without power for weeks, she said running water is only working periodically and is not safe to drink.
She shared her phone number with us in case anyone wants to follow up with a zoom interview or come to her location and further dive into the story. 713-266-7500
