Ironbridge and Broseley Station colourized and partially restored
Ironbridge and Broseley railway station was a railway station with two through platforms on the Severn Valley Railway Line in Shropshire, England.
The station was on a section of the Severn Valley Line north of Bridgnorth and was demolished in 1966 to provide car parking space within the Severn Gorge. Until its closure on 25 November 1956, the signal box controlled railway traffic around the station and the level crossing that lead to the Iron Bridge.

I live 2ml from Ironbridge such a shame the station wasn't saved. Beautiful pictures and fascinating to see these old pictures thank you.
Amazing pictures. I used to live in Ironbridge a few years back Sadly the station had already gone But the old locals had many stories about the railway. It's a real shame Beaching & the subsidence destroyed a very scenic railway.

The railway was scheduled for closure before Beeching.
This is so interesting and really well made. Thanks #Broseley
Devastating to see. What a shame this could not have been saved. What a bonus as a tourist attraction
So many brilliant childhood memories for me, used to play in the old railway station when it was closed in the 1960s. ❤️
Brilliant.
As of today there’s no trace of ironbridge station at all

A car park sits on its site at present. It’s unlikely to ever open again.

Would have made a fantastic terminus for the SVR being so close to the Ironbridge.

Everyone wanting the railway back its not possible. The area is prone to subsidence this is why it had problems when it was running . It will never come back again due to housing being built on its path . Its a lovely cycle route now into Bridgnorth.
