Followed your video to fix my truck yesterday. Had a heck of a time removing the electrical connection because the tab was on the back and the space was small. I finally used a coat hanger hook to slip behind it. It came right off. Used then same coat hanger to guide the socket into position with the new part. Putting the new electrical connection on was difficult with the space, but finally lined it up correctly with a long screwdriver through the wires and it popped right on. Thanks for the video.

Great video. Just did mine yesterday. It had been done before. Whoever did it before did kind of a half ass job and chewed up the harness pretty good. I went through and soldered/heat shielded everything. Glad I decided to do it from the top and not attack it from the bottom.

Just did mine today on my '03....well my nephew did while I watched. Your vid was a big help. Also watched Diesel Tech Ron do one but he did it from below and that way looked too hard. The hardest part is getting the new sensor started in the hole. He finally put a short piece of rubber hose over the end of the new sensor to give something for his big meathooks to hold on to. Had to position match the new pigtail wires as the colors did not match at all.

Wow. Memories!!! Usually set a P2285 when that happens. I can't count high enough how many of these I did. I still have my Snap-On socket specifically for this sensor sitting in my box. I get the sensor from the basement while doing the wiring repair up top. I think someone already mentioned it, but there's supposed to be a shield that goes over the sensor and connector for added heat protection. Those always used to get saturated with oil. Another important 6.0 pigtail part number to remember is 6E7Z-12A690-DA. That's the pigtail for the later model year VGT solenoid connectors that always break the cheesy lock tabs.

Had to work on an 03 6.0 for the first time 6 months ago, same repair except it was my first time seeing an early build 6.0 and it kicked my ass because I didn't have a short enough socket. The belly of my 03 looks just like this one in the video and the check engine light came on Sunday shortly after changing out my oil. Hooked up my forscan and it says low icp voltage detected. I’m thinking this repair is in my immediate future. Thanks for giving me a clear understanding of what to expect! Was the connector bad that you replaced or did the new icp just have a different connector? Thanks again for helping all of us out much appreciated!

So I replaced my sensor and my truck is no longer having this problem. Thanks again for you sharing your knowledge it helped out greatly! I did opt not to replaced the connector. Upon inspection it looked okay though was saturated in oil. I sprayed it out with some electrical cleaner then blew it out with my compressor a couple times, added a bit of dielectric grease and didn’t have any trouble with it. The sensor itself was shot. Had cracks on plastic base where the oil was seeping out and with barley any pressure the the sensor plug end snapped right off. Thanks again!!

Thanks for the video I've yet to find any help on exactly what my problem is hopefully you can help with some suggestions. I have an early model 03 super duty and I just recently had another motor put in it issue is the new motor is out of an 04 which was actually in a f-450. Motor is in the truck and running sounds good at idle but driving down the road it lacks its power and sounds as if the turbo is not winding out as it should. I've also come to notice that the ICP on the new motor is not plugged in we're now it is located on top of the passenger valve cover and I guess on my old motor it was down below the turbo the back side of the motor such as the one in your video. So am I screwed because the sensor is not plugged in I have the original wiring harness on the truck and computer is there any way that I can find the original plug and extended over to the valve cover? I have a feeling this is why the truck is lacking its power because this sensor is not plugged in

I bought a 04 6.0 noticed the oil leak on the back of the block and it “loop “ at idle but not in drive..also if this is bad and neglected would it cause more damage to the injectors since now there is white smoke immediately upon start up SORRY SO LONG but thanks if you could help

Took it to the dealer and they said hfcm and new fuel lines. $3500 I dropped the tank and found the strainer on the pickup line was busted off and pieces in the lines. I replaced the strainer, filters. Blew out the fuel lines and cleaned the hfcm. Ran great until yesterday morning after a really cold start it started puking oil from somewhere on the back of the engine... hoping it’s just the icp.

I replaced the ICP along with the pigtail over a year ago (sadly aftermarket part 😅)and it’s starting to go bad I believe. But this time I ordered the exact part you used in the video Ford OEM. I hope it will last much longer. Also prob 2-3 years ago I had to replace the IPR but I did buy Ford OEM to replace it so far it’s been fine. 2004 F250 King ranch 🤙🏻😊
