He lost form and that degenerated into a crisis of confidence when some very vindictive Welsh ‘supporters’ turned on him and made his life a misery through social media. Had they given him a break he may well have recovered form. Keyboard warriors are a modern day curse.

  • @Rhys78686

@@jonnyjones4347 very vindictive wales ‘supporters’ is a good way to describe scarlets fans who think James Davies is a better player than Tipuric and Rhys Patchell is Barry John reincarnate. So many players who get unfairly criticised by certain welsh fans. Hadleigh Parkes and Johnny McNicholl had an awful six nations this year yet it was North Biggar and Tipuric who got all the criticism. I don’t care what team you support the ospreys, blues, scarlets or dragons when your watching wales your regional bias should go out the window. It’s the same with the football. Cardiff and swansea fans are at each other’s throats at internationals and some welsh fans don’t like welsh players because they played for one of the two clubs. In all honesty I’m slightly biased against the player who qualify for wales through residency mainly because I don’t agree with the rule but secondly because how are we going to beat New Zealand if we pick players who aren’t good enough to get into their squad. I was really frustrated in the six nations when pivac kept picking an out of form McNicholl over the in form Rees-zammit. There’s also a lot of welsh wingers who I think are as good as McNicholl who have never been capped like Ashton Hewitt

@@ieuanconlin3760 Always made worse in the unforgiving public eye because he had a kind of hangdog look. He was a class winger - but fans can be awful. He took the blame for Wales losing to England in '17 - when Daly scored out wide. Not sure Cuthbert was to blame as a number of things contributed to a game Wales should've won - but people always remember the error at the end and not someone else's error in the 1st half. Just ask Billy Burns -he's got a PhD in fan abuse.

@Lee Davis who gives a shit what has happened in the last 100 years? Its irrelevant. Lets look more recently shall we? - since 1990 England and Wales have played 41 times. Wales has managed to win a measley 12 of those games. In the last 12 games, Wales have only won 3. This idea that Wales are some big head to head rivals is a crazy grand delusion. No one cares what happend in 1912, in the professional era Wales are no where near.

@@paulwilliams8389 Australia elimanted England from the WC in 2015. Any sensible England fan knew we had no chance in that WC under Lancaster. We certainly don't live off a WC group game as our greatest achievment. And I actually said Wales are not 'head rivals', which evidently they're not. Also, you don't get any extra tophies for Grandslams. 1996 was the first year in the professional era and England have won 8 titles to Wales' 5 since then. Also won a WC in that period. I don't know why some fans see the 6 nations as the benchmark for international rugby when its not. England have won games and series against the big SH teams in their back yard, which historically has been the benchmark of international rugby. Wales have a solitary away win in Australia, which was back in 1969. France, Ireland and even Scotland have had more success in those countries than Wales have had much more recently. And in the professional era, Ireland and France have had more success against England than Wales have had. Wales will never never progress to anything more with this ''as long as we beat the English'' attitude and this thinking that winning the 6 nations is somehow the pinnacle for international rugby. As a fan I'd be pissed off if my team could only turn it on against our closest neighbours. The players are cheating their coach and cheating their fans in those intances.
