I studied architecture for 6 years not one chapter was ever dedicated to Indic Design theory. I feel like I need to go back school.

She is barefoot.., she knows she is at an institute and more so she is the teacher here... going by tradition, students and teachers do not suppose to take their shoes into their classrooms. High regards to you madam.... you are indeed a true Guru, pranam..

You are the true knower of vastu shastra. I salute to your efforts & dedication. Hope to get more knowledge on this, in near future .

Congrats to the effort on bringing the subject to public. An amazing lady , committed to the subject , putting a complex subject in simple terms, brilliant. 🙏. A neglected Sastra since independence for just being an Indian knowledge system. Had our Engineering curriculum were having this subject in the syllabus from 1947 today's India would have been a different one. At least it is commendable that an effort has been made by IIT Gandhinagar to bring out such knowledge systems and Experts before public. Congrats and continue the efforts to bring every Indian knowledge system to the forefront so that all the people and experts who has preserved and updated the knowledge systems for thousands of years are duly honoured for their relentless efforts. Introspection on what level of ingratitude has been done to our ancestors in this context is heart breaking 🙏

The problem was and still is that we are following the education system setup by the british to brain wash us to believe that the british and the western knowledge that were stolen from various countries are better than us.

What if one has scientific knowledge but no Scientific temper, this happens. That's why our Indian stands backwards

very true..........commercialisation of shastra destroys the essence of what envisages. I am also a vastu aspirant who took doctorate from kanchi university. Currently working as sthapathy for travancore Devaswom board,Kerala.

An excellent lecture. Now I am actually starting to grasp what Vaastu is - and what tosh is thrown around in its name in popular culture. I had been to Ellora a few decades back and am even today awed by the architectural wonder of standing in the stunningly tall Kailash temple. I am reminded of it each time I see an "ugh" looking building in our country, or worse, when buildings barely a few decades crumble and old fall off.

Amazing, she knows what she is talking about. Enlightenment for me.

Thank You Shashikala Ananth Ma'am for Opening my Mind towards this subject. Appreciate the amount of Knowledge and Understanding you have and the way you see things. Drishti every one has but there are very few who have that Divya Drishti to see the Layers within this Subject and presenting it in such a Logical Way. Thanks a Lot.

The Indian have a deep scientific knowledge but no Scientific temper. First the thought our ancestors had known everything about the universe is just a fallacy. How can people from 1000 years could know about Quantum mechanics, molecular biology etc. ???? Astrology, Ayurveda, vasthu are completely pseudoscientific and evidenceless. The world has realised it year why we Indian don't ???? Because we are agreesive nationalistic like the nazi Germans. We always argue all stupidities existed in the ancient times were true. Which is an utter blunder. Traditions are Okay. But if it contains anything wrong, It must be expelled. Remember, social evils like sati, child marriage were also the part of Indian culture once.

I must say this is informative lecture

Fantastic video, am looking for Part 2, currently reading the book Vaastu by Sashikala Ananth from a bookstore in Hyderabad a few years ago with a friend who found it for me, and who studied with one of her teachers in India and practices vaastu professionally (hopefully as Sashikala says 'the right way'), looking forward to more books by Sashikala Ananth and trips to study this in India and US and making use of it as well and also with guidance of Sri Karunamayi.

Professor ji, I have to correct you. In Southern hemisphere water flows clockwise direction, anti-clockwise is in northern hemisphere. Veritasium channel proved that and have a video on youtube "Does Water Swirl the Other Way in the Southern Hemisphere?".

For the last few months I have been following the thoughts, ideas and the speeches delivered by various Vastu Experts of our country and following their thoughts, ideas and explanations I cannot make out how can it be possible to follow all the dimensions of Vastu Shastra, like how is it possible to colour a house, both inside and outside portions of the house according to the vastu shastra when separate colours are ascribed to all the 16 separate directions?

I suspect the best option might be to consult directly with an expert who you have good faith in. I have minimal understanding of vastu at this moment but I know from my own explorations of Ayurveda in the past few years that the difference between reading things by myself compared to then studying under a teacher and receiving tailored advice relevant to where my body is at today has been worlds apart. I cant be sure but I suspect this would translate to the principles of vastu also. Wishing you good health and happiness.
