Yeah, I was surprised with the cel growth with no floetrol OR silicone, but I guess it is mainly the different weights of the paint causing the cels. As far as I know, floetrol is mainly used for economic reasons, right? We cannot afford tons of paint, so we leaven the paint with floetrol to make it last longer. But, I think I am gonna try this mixture!

Great short and sweet tutorial. The sscret why you get cells with only white paint and water I believe is because you use Amsterdam Titanium white. I think some of the common paints that we get in North America do not have the same ingredients as Amsterdam, which is why people use Floetrol and oil. I just bought some Amsterdam paints and look forward to trying your technique. You are a good teacher, Rinske!❣ Greetings from Canada! 🇨🇦

Gail Robins Floetrol levels pain. It’s especially good when you have large quantities of paint for tilting. It doesn’t actually produce cells. The cells you get with a Dutch Pour are from the different weights of paint and from the hair dryer.

Moya Gracie hi moya, rinske Donna has a tutorial regarding how to mix the paints. I think she is using acrylic paint, it would be artist type, she mixes it with water. There is loads of tutorials on you tube, but most folks are from the USA, they seems to use floetrol, which is expensive here, it makes the paint flow better, self levels and slows down the drying process. Some also add silicone, which produces the big cells. Many use treadmill silicone, but have seen someone use WD40 !! But the big problem with silicone is you have to wash it off your canvas if you later want to go on and resin. Some other folks use PVA glue in their mixes, this I think creates round cells. Many tutorials will give you the mixture amounts, but just remember that each make of paint is different, so while one will be ok others you may have to add more or less. It’s a huge learning curve, but the outcomes look amazing. You do need to torch the paints to eliminate tiny air bubbles u can’t see, if not they will pop during the drying process causing tiny pin holes. You need to use a torch and not heat gun as that’ll melt the paint. This is all the info I’ve learned, and have now got some paints off of amazon, so am gonna give the paint and water a go. As said loads of tutorials, Gina de Luca has huge amount of info, as does a lady called Tammy Anderson that I’ve been watching. Hope this helps. Hope you and yours all safe and well. K xx

It is the white base paint that confuses me, I thought it had to be Flow Acrylic paint which is expensive, together with Floetrol and water, but maybe it can be any white paint. Check out Kanella Ciraco.... can't wait to get started. Have fun and stay safe. x

Because the result everything about them Is far superior to all other brands except Shminki of they make Accrylics? I don't think I'm going to get this lucky. W& N are my favourite. You can feel the difference immediately. I have gouache in teeny tubes. Your tubes/bottles were ginormous. I was nearly in tears as I watched the exquisite colours flow. Lucky lady. @@nitty3366 I'm pretty new myself and had this problem at first. Craft paints crack. Cheaper paints, old paints. Use Winsor and Newton, Amsterdam, or even Liquitex works well. Also make sure the paintings aren't drying in a very cold area. Covering with a box or something can keep the air out so the top layer of your paint doesn't dry too fast.
