The problem with law schools is that very few professors are as competent and mature as Dean Willard Riano. If you teach this way, you make the classroom a place conducive to learning and the teaching process is all about the students and not about the mentor. All professors or instructors of law shall look up to this manner of teaching as their model if they wish to make their career useful to others. Many professors of law, unfortunately, do not teach this way.

Socratic method is still the best way to teach and share the law. This kind of teaching only applies to Review Classes during 4th yr and pre-bar lectures. if this will be the way of teaching since 1st year of law, there will be more students who will get failing grades because the tendency of one-way teaching is complacency on the part of the students. In Socratic method, 1st yr to 3rd students always come to class prepared. there's no other way around but to read the coverage, otherwise, you'll get humiliated

I agree, they are more focused on inflicting pain towards students. I'm in my last year in lawschool and instead of being mentored we still do the same thing
