I really laughed at their funny and friendly overtures! Gotta be one of your best vlogs. The guy wasnt asking for your chain. When you said his rings were nice, one of the people (maybe the funny guy) told him to give you his ring because you liked it. So the barber was saying "He's telling me to give it to you, do you want it?". When you mentioned if he wanted the chain, he thought you are offering it for exchange.

and yes, many people without exposure and much education do not know the line between friendly and awkward. They never intend it to be awkward, it is their way of pulling someone's leg in what they feel is a funny way. I would get overwhelmed too. Pakistani society identifies few personal boundaries :D You handled that perfectly and respectfully.

I have had seen numerous travelogs but i found yours very natural and real content, they way u blend in with locals is incredible. Thanks for showing pakistan's real face to the world. Its lovely to watch you Harry

Harry is a smart youtuber he grasps local cultures faster than most youtubers, one example being he does not forcefully give money to seller when locals dont let him pay which is the right thing to do. Whereas some youtubers force on giving money because they want to help support the local business, not a good idea guys it offends not only the seller but also the locals as well. Not everything is about money in eastern cultures, people take pride in being hospitable, when you pay you hurt their pride. So youtubers like Dauud, Luke please learn from Harry.

Given the task when he was asking for camera shows how easily they trust each other he also gave his phone to other for clicking pics which is very common among pashton...

I never expected such positive reactions from Afghan and Pakistani peoples. Their hospitable temperament combined with your joyous reaction to them makes for a great video. I found that Pakistani is a very curious people. As a bystander, what I feel is their concern, not ridicule! In fact, the man is very funny. He has been driving the lively atmosphere. The only explanation is that language and cultural differences cause misunderstandings! And, frankly, your American friend looks more like them, and if I hadn't seen your video, I might have mistaken him for a local! Therefore, it is very likely that they have been thinking that he is your interpreter, that they have been talking to him, and your friend has not responded, causing the misunderstanding! We can't know what everyone thinks, but I believe at least he is not malicious, and it can be seen that he can't understand your English! Harry, don't worry, at least I felt joy and enthusiasm in this video, without any embarrassment, don't think too much! Hope to have friends who understand Pakistani to help translate the entire conversation, or even help with subtitles, so that you can get rid of the discomfort! The funny person did not know how to speak English but he was trying to make commentary for internatiomal audience in Pushtu which is second largest spoken local language in Pakistan. He was telling name of after shave 'Alum' in local language as 'Phatkaran'. Overall he was innocent funny local.

I live out side Peshawar a village called Bara and I just wanted to tell you about the feelings of these boys you were surrounded by, they were extremely very happy to see you yet it's your fortune that none of them could either speak or understand English otherwise a large population of Peshawar especially Peshawar city understand and speak English. Yet appreciate that you visit PESHAWAR and sat down on the ground for the shave , I'm sure you must have enjoyed. Hi Harry and Welcome to the Land of Hospitality called Peshawar!!! The only reason why people follow foreigners is that it's been a long time since they have interacted with them. When they find some foreigners in the streets they go crazy because foreigners are just like Aliens to them but they try to be friendly towards them in their own way. I am from Peshawar and remember many foreigners visiting Peshawar during my childhood days before the 9/11 incident. Now they have seen foreign visitors after a very long gap of more than 20 years so please bear with them in their behaviour and enjoy your time in Pakistan. If you are still in Peshawar, visit Peshawar Museum and Sethi Haveli too.
